The Manchester Prize entrants: a deep dive into the entry data (25/04/24)

Taking a closer look at the data on the entries to the first Manchester Prize

 

Entries

There were an incredible 425 entrants into the Manchester Prize, working in partnership on over 275 eligible innovations; we’re really excited about what this means for pioneering AI innovation for public good in the UK with a range of fantastic innovators rapidly developing cutting-edge applications to deliver benefits to the UK public.

Field of focus

Nearly half (47.5%) of entries were focused on solutions for issues related to the environment, with strong representation across all three of our focus areas, demonstrating the continued desire to try and tackle some of our most pressing issues.

Team location

We were really happy to see that our entries were from across the UK, with nearly 20% coming from the North East and North West of England. It was exciting to receive entries from all nations in the United Kingdom, showing the geographic spread of innovation in AI.

We’ll be announcing our 10 finalist teams in May, who will each receive £100,000 and be in with a chance to win the £1 million Grand Prize.
