Alan Beesley

Alan Beesley is a seasoned business leader with experience in sustainable energy, technology commercialisation, and business strategy. As Commercial Director of ALPS Ecoscience UK Ltd, he has driven strategic partnerships, market expansion, and the scale up of novel technology in biohydrogen and biogas, as well as programme managed R&D project delivery.

Alan has a strong track record in securing and delivering 6 figure grant-funded projects, including successful bids with DESNZ and Innovate UK. His expertise spans biohydrogen and bioethanol production, anaerobic digestion optimisation, and circular economy solutions. He has coauthored a research paper with Oxford University on anaerobic digestion process optimisation, reinforcing his position as a thought leader in sustainable energy. He also regularly writes blogs and executive primers.

Before joining ALPS, Alan had periods in management consulting and retail, where he led business change and digital transformation projects, including redevelopment of Merlin, a cloud-based ERP solution for the veterinary industry at MWI Animal Health. He also project managed the delivery of Swift, a mobile treatment app, acting as the key interface between veterinary end users and software development teams. This background gives him a unique ability to bridge technical innovation with commercial execution, ensuring solutions align with market needs. His consumer research and brand experience enable him support product development from idea to implementation. 

In addition to his commercial activities, Alan serves as Chair of the Supergen Bioenergy Hub Advisory Board, shaping the future of bioenergy research and innovation across UK Universities. His expertise in market strategy, commercialisation, and sustainable infrastructure makes an effect industrial advisor on green energy transition and the circular bioeconomy.
